6 Free Things To Do in Paris Under 26

Paris is most definitely not the cheapest city to travel in, but you can make the most of it while you are still considered a “student” or are simply under 26. There is an infinite number of places to visit and enjoy in The City of Love, so Javi and I took advantage of our rapidly waning status and took off exploring as much as we could in three days.

If you are working in the EU as an American citizen, you need to show your temporary residency card (in my case my NIE card from Spain), or a passport to prove your age. Javi was able to simply show his Spanish ID card. There are a number of travel benefits, discounts, and free entries as a student within much of Europe, so it’s smart to utilize all the opportunities while you can!

1. Palace of Versailles: The Sun King’s palace or the palace of Louis XIV. Covered from floor to ceiling in gold and gaudy details, it will definitely not fail to impress you. The extensive gardens are also a sight to behold. DSCN4688

2. Notre Dame Towers: One of the world’s most famous Gothic architectures is the Notre Dame Cathedral; complete with towers you can climb and share a beautiful view of the city next to a stone gargoyle. If you have the energy to climb its 400 steps, it’s well worth it! The Cathedral is free to the public, but the Towers normally cost 8,50 euros, unless you are a student of course! DSCN4854

3. The Louvre: Home to one of the world’s finest art collections and was once the French royal palace before Versailles. You can see works by da Vinci, Michelangelo, Bosch, Jacques-Louis Davis, Raphael, and many others.

4. Rodin Museum/Rodin Gardens: Rodin’s beautiful mansion and gardens filled with his sculptures and personal art collection. One of his most famous works is “The Thinker” pictured here. DSCN4923

5. Musée d’Orsay: A gorgeous art museum in what was once a railway station. It’s one of my favorite places in Paris and it’s more than feasible to see everything in one visit, unlike the Louvre. DSCN4996

6. Arc de Triomphe: An enormous, you guessed it, arch to honor those who fought in the Napoleonic Wars. The views from the top are breath-taking! DSCN5275 DSCN5260

If you have the chance to visit Paris, you will absolutely not regret it! I have yet to meet someone who has not loved Paris, and you will love it even more if you can enter some of its highlights for free
